Brits putting life priorities to one side
February 22, 2012
A study suggests that many Britons are not devoting as much time to their happiness and health as they would like.
The majority of Britons are struggling to find enough time to focus on their life priorities, according to life insurance provider Scottish Widows.
Research from the company suggests that 70 per cent of adults are letting priorities such as their health and happiness slide as a result of the ongoing economic downturn.
Forty-five per cent of respondents to Scottish Widows' poll said they did not have enough time to have fun, with 44 per cent saying they are unable to exercise as much as they would like.
Nearly one in four people also revealed they do not have enough time to devote to their partners, while 21 per cent said they have too much debt to feel financially secure.
Catherine Stewart, savings expert at Scottish Widows, commented that people are being forced to neglect their health, wealth and happiness.
"Finances are an important place to start, for example, assessing your weekly spend to see where savings can be made," she advised.
Ms Stewart also suggested seeking financial advice "for the peace of mind which comes with having a plan in place to secure your financial future".
One financial product that could provide invaluable peace of mind is critical illness insurance, as this provides a lump sum in the event that the policyholder is unable to work in future due to one of the illnesses or disabilities listed on the policy.
