Comparing life assurance prices 'may help cut costs'
September 07, 2010
People with critical illness cover and life assurance should be on the lookout for cheaper policies.
People looking to cut the cost of their life assurance and critical illness cover could compare the premium prices offered by different insurers.
Daily Mirror advice columnist Tricia Phillips recently responded to a question from a reader who was looking to reduce their outgoings.
The correspondent explained that they have life assurance, critical illness cover and income protection policies with three separate companies.
Ms Phillips stated that instead of losing protection, it may best to compare all the relevant products on the market to find a cheaper alternative.
"Consolidating all the plans with one provider may cut the cost but keep the cover," she added.
Last month, Official Wire columnist Richard Bond also suggested that comparing life insurance quotes can help consumers save money and said it is worthwhile checking out "at least" five different policies before making a purchase.
He pointed out that different insurers have wildly varying premium rates for what is essentially the same piece of cover.
