Lack of life insurance 'was terrible for son'
September 08, 2010
A bereaved son had to shoulder the financial burden of paying for both his parents' funerals as neither had life insurance.
A man whose parents died within a week of each other was put under financial pressure by the fact that neither of them had life insurance.
Jamie Farrell, 25, of Paisley, told the Scottish Sun that both his father and mother died from heart failure, leaving him with a considerable emotional and financial burden.
"I'm an only child and I was choosing coffins, arranging funerals and trying to pay bills. Neither of them had life insurance and I had to pay for their funerals," he stated.
Mr Farrell said it had been very difficult to sort all of the debts and bills he had to deal with and he needed the help of support group Christians Against Poverty to get through the trying period.
Earlier this month, the US News and World Report website explained that life insurance is an important product which protects the financial future of the policyholder's family.
