Life insurance 'cheaper for the healthy'
September 03, 2010
Staying in shape will help people get cheaper life insurance, it has been suggested.
Cheaper life insurance premiums are just one benefit of living a fit and active lifestyle.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Michael Williams, a spokesman for global professional services firm Towers Watson, explained that insurance providers assess the cost of a policy partly on the basis of how healthy the prospective customer is.
"With life insurance, people who have less healthy lifestyles have to pay more," he stated.
Last month, columnist Richard Bond told the OfficialWire website that it is a very sensible idea to purchase life insurance when a person is as young as possible.
He explained this is because health risks will generally be much lower, meaning it will be easier to get cheaper premiums.
Mr Bond also outlined the importance of staying in shape to getting lower quotes from life insurance providers.
"Eat healthily and take up regular exercise to keep your weight in check," he went on to advise.
